Associate Category Manager

Our Category Management team turns insights into action and positively impacts retailer and category growth. We are hiring an Associate Category Management Manager to support the category management team and analyze the category across the country for our Buttery Spreads brands (including Country Crock and I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter) and aid in developing best in class category solutions. Building relationships with the sales and brand teams will also be part of the duties with the goal of increasing the team’s knowledge and profitability of the business to drive sustainable growth.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do

As an Associate Category Management Manager, you have a natural curiosity to find out why something happened, and the ability to convert the “why” into a story that results in actions that grow the category. You love data and digging through it in tools like MS Excel or Power BI/Tableau. Analyzing scanner and loyalty card data is exciting because through it you can see and tell a story. Your job will be to help build that story for large and small retailers in the US via data and shopper/consumer insights. You will also work on shelving guidelines and category growth initiatives used to help the sales team build a story to sell-in innovation. You will be a part of a broader team that works together to understand the dynamics of the category and develop knowledge based selling tools.

Key duties will include:

1. Analyze panel, retailer data, and articles for insight and strategy development
2. Share Category Insights via Brand Identity pages for brand position, performance, demos and regional significance
3. Develop/Maintain Performance Reports and Add/Delete Recos
4. Develop/Maintain Nielsen Panel research tools at national and retailer level
5. Explore other categories to build support stories for spread category strategies
6. Coordinate with Analytical team to ensure reports are not duplicative
7. Maintain POG Room and Equipment used in meetings with buyers
8. Maintain in-store image library for collection/sharing/tracking & insights
9. Assist in Vendor Management projects and pursuits
10. Maintain Data Architecture via consistent attribution and segmentation
11. Manage national POG schedule calendar, share of shelf changes, and placement pre and post resets
12. Ad Hoc Analysis for accounts and brands

What You’ll Need To Succeed

An excellent associate category manager has extensive experience in understanding data and how to make it visually appealing. They also enjoy digging into consumer needs and the retail environment. They know the differences between the multiple channels and the need to adjust plans accordingly. They are also comfortable managing multiple projects at once, keeping organized and focused on delivering in-full and on time. Exceptional communication skills are also a must for an associate category manager as their ability to turn data into concise and action driven slides and tools are a key to success.

The ideal candidate has been in the consumer goods industry for 2+ years with experience as a data analyst, category manager, or similar role. Strong data analysis and analytical thinking skills are a must. JDA proficiency is a plus. You must have a working knowledge of category management, marketing, and sales principles. BS/BA in business administration, marketing or related field required.

Travel is about 15-20%. Ideal candidate will be a data whiz and also know how to use Retail Link, 84.51, EYC, Nielsen AOD Scan and Panel as well as IRI Unify. Power BI is a plus.
