Our Category Management team turns insights into action and positively impacts retailer and category growth. We are hiring a Category Management Manager to work on the Butter and Spreads Category at Walmart, Club stores (Sam’s, BJs, and Costco), and online to be a strategic business partner to the buyers. The goal is to help each retailer increase sales and profitability of the category in a sustainable way that continues to meet the needs of the different consumer segments in the category.

Primary Responsibilities:

As a Category Management Manager, you will proactively share insights and trends that help the buyers shape the future of the category. You will be the go-to person when the buyer has a question about the category, its shoppers, and consumers. You will use your natural curiosity to find out why something happened and convert the “why” into a story that results in actions that grow the category at Walmart, Club Stores, and online.

You will analyze Retail Link, Walmart OVT, and Madrid data, along with Nielsen Panel and any additional loyalty card data to which Upfield subscribes. You find data exciting because through it you can see and tell a story. Your job will be to build that story using data and shopper/consumer insights for each of the different regions of the US in which Walmart and the Club teams are located. You will also be responsible for translating shelving guidelines and category growth initiatives into something that makes sense for each region’s shopper.

Your key duties will be:

1. Serve as trusted advisor to the buyers proactively providing insights and analytics that are actionable and lead to category growth
2. Build the Customer Selling Story with sales partners for retailer innovation and planning meetings
3. Evolve the Upfield Category strategy work to a plan that works for each retailer
4. Provide big picture thinking to encourage tests, track results with meaningful measures, and apply the learnings to drive sales and customer satisfaction
5. Analyze panel, retailer specific data, and news articles for insight and strategy development
6. Deep Dive into each retailer’s shoppers and item level regional performance to influence decisions leading to the right assortment per region
7. Present/Develop recommended Shelving Guidelines for each region with recommended add/deletes
8. Work to influence the POG/Modular Relay process and run year-round updates, analyze sales results pre/post reset, and build strategies to improve the results
9. Support Digital/Walmart.com shopper and consumer insights
10. Deliver/Maintain Weekly Category Reports with insight call-outs on performance
11. Ad Hoc Analysis for accounts

They know how to stay organized and focused on delivering in-full and on time. They’re comfortable in the weeds while not losing sight of the big picture. Exceptional communication skills are also a must as the ability to turn data into concise and action driven slides and measurable tests is key.

The ideal candidate has been in the consumer goods industry for 7+ years with over 4 years of proven experience as a category management manager/advisor or similar role. JDA proficiency, strong data analysis and analytical thinking skills are required. You must have a solid knowledge of category management, marketing, and sales principles.
