Your Role

We are looking for a self-confident R&D person who will play a key role in driving the Upfield Turkey, North Africa and Middle East packaging agenda forward and give support for specification management.

Our packaging activities are focused on the packaging development process from the beginning to end: from innovation until implementation and roll out of packaging related to, mainly tubs and lids, bottles and closures, flexibles, as well as corrugated. The job holder will work closely with internal Upfield functions (Global and Regional R&D, Marketing, Procurement and Supply Chain) and external suppliers to cover all aspects of the development and deployment within the business.

This role provides the opportunity to manage innovation, to deepen packaging knowledge (Technologies, specifications, product-pack-match interactions), and to work in a global, entrepreneur  and fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for the below activities for NAMET region
  • Lead the packaging stream in innovation projects with low-medium complexity, working with the cross functional project team, ensuring packaging is fit for purpose to meet the packaging brief, and delivered on time, in full.
  • Idea generation for productivity and GM improvement projects and deployment of those projects.
  • Deliver the content of technical specifications for all packaging components developed in a project.
  • Lead selected suppliers in project work
  • Work in multi-functional teams (with marketing, supply chain, procurement, quality, product development and other associated functions)
  • Develop and maintain the relevant technical expertise and competencies for self.
  • Participate in building of the packaging capability through involvement in relevant cross group activities.
  • Comply with the Upfield Code of Business Principles and all SHE and QA policies, including the support of product claims, risk management and environmental awareness.
  • Follow, inspect and evaluate consumers, customers, new packaging technologies and competitors in the market.
  • Lead in maintenance of higher order specifications in coordination with the product development team for all projects.

What you need to succeed in this role:

  • University degree in Engineering ; preferably Mechanical, Foods or Chemical Engineering background (Master of Packaging Engineering /Packaging Technology is a plus)
  • Minimum 1 years experience in Supply Chain Packaging Filling Lines / Quality Assurance in packaging /  R&D packaging development department
  • Fluent in English and Turkish
  • Good knowledge of MS Office      
  • Result-oriented, strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and independence in work style with work in a fast-based environment.
