About the Role

UK & Ireland Financial Assistant

Your Role

The Financial Analyst for Upfield UK & I will be reporting into the UK & Ireland Financial Controller and will play a critical role in the UK&I finance team, supporting local P2P (Procure to Pay), O2C (Order to Cash), financial controls, audit and month end. There are also key working relationships that need to be established & maintained across the group especially with the local marketing and sales teams, shared services group, treasury and the outsource provider Cap Gemini.

Main Responsibilities:

Procure to Pay

  • Support the end-to-end Procure to Pay process (vendor management, PO setup, query resolution)
  • Provide ad-hoc support and guidance to marketing/HR/sales teams where required
  • Ensure teams raise PO’s for all indirect spend to minimise urgent/manual payments in SAP S4
  • Liaise with Shared Services to assist in query resolution.
  • Continuous improvement of P2P processes and controls

Month End

  • Support month-end close process by group deadlines
  • Submission of journals (accruals, pre-payments, re-allocations) where required to close month-end
  • Monthly reporting of overheads and advertising/promotional spend vs forecast
  • Ensure alignment of related intercompany balances

Cash Management

  • Support cash forecasting process and reconciliation of actuals versus bank account.  

Controls & Governance

  • Ensure documented company policies and processes are adhered to across UK & Ireland
  • Work with Shared Services team to review trial balance and ‘4 statements’, identifying key month-on-month movements and recommend actions to rectify if appropriate.
  • Assist Audit teams (internal & external) where required (sample retrieval, process guidance).

Skills and Capabilities Required

  • Strong academic record
  • 1-2 years experience in a finance role (SAP experience preferable)
  • Good understanding of general accounting concepts
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Good work ethic, attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
