About the Role!

Develop and drive our business specific People Strategy and end to end HR activities for the Upfield New Century Manufacturing Team of 350 Associates reporting directly to the Head of Human Resources – North America.

This role drives the people elements of transformation and change in support of the business agenda, while supporting leaders and managers on engagement, organizational change, communications and HR matters in Manufacturing.

Additionally, you will drive the agenda for team building and team effectiveness within the Manufacturing Leadership Team via Recruitment, Learning and Development; as well as, the focus on the development of  hourly and salaried staffing plans, onboarding and training, employee and labor relations, talent and performance management, OD implementations, compensation processes and payroll, policy implementation,  and labor contract negotiations.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Drive, create and implement the people strategy of the Manufacturing organizational Structure.
  • Mentor leaders and emerging talent to develop, enhance and improve their personal leadership style and management effectiveness, manage Talent across various plants and cross with other functions.
  • Lead a team of two associate HR Specialists, on-site payroll coordinator and contract recruiter.
  • Work with management and teams to ensure team effectiveness and performance; to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity, retention and engagement; and ensure accurate Union contract interpretation; while, consistently driving performance management.
  • Partner with Talent Management to implement Talent Acquisition and Retention plan.
  • Lead the recruitment and selection process for both internal and external hires, for both salaried and hourly positions, ensuring compliance with all applicable contractual, legal, and policy-related requirements.  Insure effective and efficient onboarding processes for new hires, improving the likelihood of employment success.
  • Participate in site business planning and ensure alignment of HR strategy to business goals at the site. Deliver the HR Strategy for the attainment of Upfield Vision and objectives.
  • Develop strategic workforce plans and drive competency development plans for key positions.
  • Driving standard OD implementation and build opportunities for leadership and associate development to create a high-performance environment.
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues and also leading the overall site IR strategy and Union contract negotiations. Act as Company liason partnering with Union Leadership and ensuring compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Collaborate to ensure all employees are aligned effectively to benefit the site; act as a true business partner to all employees.
  • Create, implement and support effective strategies to enable the organization to thrive through periods of change.
  • Lead the site employee engagement strategy; increasing employee survey participation, driving survey action plan development and execution, and coordinating engagement and recognition activities across the site.
  • Lead the delivery and compliance with Upfield HR policies, processes and local employment legislation for employees. Participate with the development and implementation of new HR related policies and procedures.
  • Lead and coordinate highly confidential cases and projects related to employee relation issues including investigations, facilitating disciplinary meetings, and providing consultative advice.
  • Own Benefits delivery and administration of all transactions not provided by third party. Manage escalation of HR issues through to resolution while maintaining effective communication with all affected stakeholders.
  • Own and insure effective payroll processes and implementation for both salaried and hourly employees.
  • Partner with, consult with and influence the function on HR needs to enable delivery of business targets; create opportunities for leadership development, and ensure all employees have development plans to continuously expand leadership and technical capability pipelines.

 

About you!

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of experience in HR Managerial capacity.
  • 7+ in operational HR matters within a complex and dynamic business context characterized by different cultures, management styles, Systems, and Industrial Relation.
  • Must have previous experience in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose organizational issues and provide solutions.
  • Must have working knowledge of organizational design, performance management, change management and provincial respective employment laws.
  • Planning, organizational and project management skills with the ability to work under stress and manage time and resources effectively – leading multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with national and local labor legislation.
  • Experience navigating and using an HRIS system, such as WorkDay or SuccessFactors or similar system.
  • Must be able to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.
  • Union/Labor Relations experience a must have.
  • In-depth knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and database management systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – develop solid relationships in order to gain support and achieve results, especially in a matrixed environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
