Insurance Manager

In the role of Insurance Manager, you will liaise with all levels in the company, from our factory colleagues to senior management. You lead Upfield’s global insurance function and actively contribute to Upfield’s risk management approach.

About the role

You are part of the Finance function within the Upfield group, reporting to the Head of Treasury and Insurance.

You are the day-to-day “go-to” person for all insurance related questions and arrangements within the Group as well as for brokers, insurance companies and other insurance service providers.

You design, review, and maintain insurance programs aligned to Upfield’s ambitions and recommend a suitable insurance strategy to senior management.

You lead negotiations to obtain best-in-class cover for an efficient premium.

You facilitate and lead claims handling for internal stakeholders and externally towards insurers, brokers, and other insurance service providers.

You lead and implement annual renewals, from strategy, exposure data collection exercises to policy wording reviews and premium payment monitoring.

You actively build and facilitate third party relationships with insurers, brokers, and other insurance service providers.

You support the (i) Finance function by providing guidance around allocations and budgets; (ii) Legal function by reviewing insurance clauses in various commercial contracts; (iii) M&A team with due diligence reviews as required; and (iv) global supply chain by facilitating risk engineering initiatives.

A substantial part of the function is to support the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process within Upfield, for which the Audit, Risk & BCM function is responsible. The ideal candidate has proven experience in this area and can translate the outcome of the ERM process into an insurance product that mitigate the financial impact of these risks.

About you

For this role, we are looking for an experienced insurance professional with a broad spectrum of knowledge of various P&C insurance programs. You are passionate about ensuring that Upfield’s insurance portfolio continues to meet requirements of a high-paced environment and supports Upfield’s big ambitions.

You hold a bachelor’s degree in insurance, business, finance or other relevant field, or you have the equivalent in relevant work experience.

Ideally you have obtained your WFT Schade Zakelijk or ACII insurance qualifications.

You have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in corporate insurance, ideally in a similar role. Experience with the insurance function for (food) manufacturers or FMCGs is a big plus.

You have in-depth knowledge of the insurance markets, the industry and are aware of the important topics and trends.

You have an entrepreneurial mindset, are naturally curious, organized and have strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

You can demonstrate extensive experience managing and building relationships internally and externally.
