R&D Product Developer / Technologist

If you’re passionate about R&D, join us and take a front seat in our R&D Team based in Wageningen, Netherlands. As our R&D Product Developer/technologist, you will work together with the R&D Technical Project Leader, in multidisciplinary projects teams. You will support multiple projects on new product development and cost saving initiatives.

As a product developer you will work hand-in-hand with Supply Chain and all other supporting functions needed to deliver the projects. Next to delivering the product development elements, you can also pick up leading some elements.

You are curious to understand the technologies and push the boundaries of expertise areas. Your will develop the formulation and the process, as these go hand in hand in spreads technology. This requires hands on work in lab and pilot plant. And you are energized by travelling to factories and develop and implement together with the factory teams.

The projects you will be involved in are mainly focusing on Europe and plant-based spreads. This role reports into the Senior Technical project leader and is part of the Global Product Team based in the Netherlands.

You will focus on creating the best tasting, nutritious, and best quality products for our consumers.

You will plan experiments (lab, pilot plant and factory) according to technical hypothesis, report data and prepare to the point presentations with conclusions, risks and risk mitigation proposals.

You will develop product prototypes on bench, pilot plant and factory scale in line with the GMP, Operational Efficiency and Food safety and quality standards.

You will characterize prototypes both on physical-chemical and sensory aspects and evaluate their shelf-life.

You will assess new ingredients.

You will set up the relevant parts of product/technical specifications for sourcing and supply chain in line with quality and consumer safety requirements.

You will upscale products to factory scale, for successful 1st productions and perform technical post-launch evaluations.

You will own interactions with factory innovation teams, QA, microbiology and safety colleagues to ensure development of performant and safe processing.

You will create technical input for labelling and own artwork approvals.

 What is your background?

You have a Bachelor/Master degree, preferably in Foods technology/processing or Chemical engineering or similar areas. With a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

You have a proven track record on delivering projects on time in full.

You have experience with upscaling and implementing new technologies.

You have experience with emulsion/fat technology is a pre.

Your experience in data process analysis from factory and pilot trials (including data mining on process output parameters).

You are a team player with a can-do mentality.

You are a self-starter who can work independently.

You can set your own priorities but know when to ask for help.

You can execute analysis and product performance tests and can communicate results in sharp presentations.

You are no nonsense, solution-oriented with practical creativity, and always striving for a high-quality outcome.

You take responsibility and drive things through to enable delivery. You are flexible and are excited to adapt within a fast-changing environment.

You are proactive, disciplined, and eager to learn.

You are fluent in English, spoken and written.

You are excited to travel to factories on frequent basis
