You asked our view on the role of GMO on food system sustainability
It is the view of Upfield that our current food system is unsustainable. To feed the world’s growing population, we need to produce food in a way that enables more people to adopt a plant-based diet.
At Upfield, we believe that non-GMO and genetically modified crops contribute to food system sustainability, and that both should be grown in a way that protects our environment through responsible, regenerative agricultural practices such as cover crops.
We have strict sustainable sourcing policies in place that ensures the highest standards for all ingredients used in our products are met. We follow all regulatory guidance to ensure our products are safe, including the sourcing of GMO and non-GMO ingredients.
In our view, people around the world may have different tastes, preferences, and perceptions about the food they eat – but they all are concerned about where it comes from. That’s why our “better for you, better for the planet” plant-based foods are clearly labelled on the pack and on our websites, so consumers will always know what’s in our products and can make informed choices based on their diet, beliefs and ethics.
